About

As a parent, mentor, and also leader, I’ve often heard people express that they struggle with math. More often than not, that lack of confidence stems from one of two things: either they never developed a solid foundation, or the material wasn’t presented in a way that resonated with them. Everyone learns differently—some by seeing, some by hearing, and many by doing.

Regardless of learning style, I’ve found that patience, empathy, and a willingness to explain concepts in multiple ways can empower students to rebuild their confidence and believe in their math abilities. We all need support to get back on track from time to time. My goal is to help foster that renewed confidence and a genuine love of learning.

My Story

As far back as I can remember,  I saw the world through the lens of puzzles. At our dinner table, my dad—who later semi-retired as a math professor—would toss out brain teasers, geography challenges, or logic problems during dessert. I didn’t just enjoy them; I looked forward to them. Even long car rides became math marathons. Friends came over not just to hang out, but to join the nightly challenge. To me, math was never a chore—it was a game, a way to connect, to think, and to solve.

That passion evolved into tutoring in high school, where teachers began recommending me to parents of students who were struggling. I carried that forward into college, informally helping classmates and roommates find clarity in the chaos of numbers and formulas.

Later, working professionally, I faced a new kind of riddle: a company with two systems that couldn’t communicate, requiring redundant manual entry. To most, it was a frustrating inefficiency. To me, it was also a puzzle to solve. I enrolled in a computer course at night to learn how to connect the systems—and that single class lit a spark. It launched me into a new career, culminating in a Master’s degree in Computer Science, graduating summa cum laude, and on that journey a job as a graduate teaching assistant helping others unlock the same excitement I had discovered.

Over the next two decades, I built and led software development teams—first as a developer, then a manager, and ultimately as a Director guiding local and global teams.

And yet, my heart has led me back to where it all began: math. Today, I focus on helping the next generation discover the power and possibilities of math—not as a hurdle, but as a gateway to achievements. Whether that leads to a career in IT, engineering, medicine, or anything else, I believe we must invest in nurturing the talent and curiosity of young minds, because the right spark can change everything.
